英语数词中基数词用复数的情形举隅

英语中基数词在一些情况下也用复数形式。

1. 与of连用构成短语，表示概数，例如：
hundreds of people 几百人
tens of students 数十个学生
hundreds of thousands of requests 成百上千次请
scores of fruits 许多水果

2. 表示“几十岁”。
She's in her twenties.
她二十几岁。
He made a mistake in his thirties.
他30多岁时犯了个错误。

3. 表示“年代”，数词要加定冠词the。
I was born in the 1980s.
我出生于20世纪80年代。

4. 用于表“一排”或者“一组”的词组。
Students came in twos and threes.
学生们三两两地来了。

5. 用于乘法运算。
5×8=40
Five eights are forty. （Five times eight is forty）
