英语零冠词的用法:不使用冠词的情形

1. 专用名词、物质名词、抽象名词前通常不用冠词。
Time is life.
时间就是生命。
Failure is the mother of success.
失败是成功之母。
2. 复数名词泛指一类人或事物时，该复数名词前不用冠词。
We are teachers.
我们是老师。
Cats are cute animals.
猫咪是可爱的动物。
3. 有限定词（this/that/所有格等）的名词前不用冠词。
This problem has been solved.
该问题已解决。
Jerry's wallet was gone.
杰瑞的钱不见了。
4. 表示“季节、月份、星期、节日、三餐、假日”等的单词前不用冠词。
Spring comes after winter.
冬去春来。
Today is weekend.
今天是周末.
I like to go swimming in summer holiday.
我暑假喜欢去游泳。
We had a good time on Christmas eve.
我们圣诞前夜玩得很开心。
5. 表示“学科”、“育运动”（如球类、棋类）等名词前不用冠词。
She is good at law/math.
她擅长法律/数学。
I like playing table tennis, but don't like playing chess.
我喜欢打乒乓球，但不喜欢下棋。
6. 表示“称呼”或只有一个人担当（如最高职位）的“职位”或“头衔”的名词前不用冠词。
Where are we going, dad?
爸爸，我们去哪儿？
Xiao Li is elected monitor of our class.
小李被选为我们班的班长。
7. 在as引导的步状语从句中作表语的名词前不用冠词。
Child as he is, he swims very well.
尽管他是一个孩子，但是他游泳游得很好。
8. 系动词turn后作表语的单数可数名词前不用冠词。
He turned president several years later.
数年后他成了一总统。
9. 一些固定短语中不用冠词。如：
go to school, go to bed, in class, at school, in bed, take part in, in/on time, first of all, at work等等。
注意：on Earth和on the Earth二者都是正确的用法。一般来说，人们讨论生活、事物、工作时，省略the，用on Earth；在宇宙、阳系或天文学中说地球时，就要用on the Earth，如：
We live on Earth.
我们生活在地球上。
What on earth are you doing?
你到底在干嘛？
No life has been found on the Mars, but human-beings can live on the Earth.
迄今为止火星上尚未发现生命，但是人类可以在地球上生存。
